Abstract : Neonatal herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection is an uncommon disease, but one with a high rate of morbidity and mortality. The disease may present with different features and variable symptoms, particularly during the neonatal period, which can lead to misdiagnosis. It is crucial to initiate antiviral treatment rapidly in order to reduce the risk of sequelae, and therefore it is important to identify this infectiont promptly. Furthermore, given that the disease is transmitted most frequently during the perinatal period, this article will discuss the prevention and management of the disease in pregnant women.
