Ferritinemia, a complex marker of iron metabolism

However, its interpretation is difficult and limited due to the complexity of ferritin metabolism, which is still poorly understood, and its sensitivity to many factors, including inflammation. A more correct diagnostic approach can be obtained by combining ferritin measurement with other parameters, but at the expense of practicality. New markers should make it possible to refine the diagnosis of iron deficiency in the future
