• How I explore… a disorder of intellectual development in a child

    Abstract : Global developmental delay (GDD) and intellectual development disorder (IDD) are common but heterogeneous pediatric conditions. Guided by a rigorous clinical and anamnestic examination, the diagnostic approach is a dynamic process which is not limited to the intelligence quotient measurement. A large panel of paraclinical tests allows etiological exploration; this generally includes biological, genetic, metabolic and iconographic examinations. To maximize therapeutic efficiency and standardize practices, this document provides a guideline for the management of pediatric GDD/IDD.
