Abstract : Subclinical hypothyroidism is a rather frequent pathology as its prevalence ranges from 1 % among young adults to 10 % beyond 55 years of age. Subclinical hypothyroidism is thus a pathology the general practitioner has to cope with on a daily basis. We review the epidemiology of subclinical hypothyroidism and present the diverse recommendations published to date about treating and screening for subclinical hypothyroidism.
